Raw Sunday

Very busy Sunday over here! In case you were wondering why (?)
Sunday is actually my Monday and we were slammed today at work....

So, I stopped at the Farmer's Market in Honokowai and picked up a pre-made Raw Vegan Veggie Pizza  and some Raw Vegan Veggie Pate for dinner.
Remember my post from yesterday?
Being too busy to make a raw meal is a lame excuse for eating bowls of pasta and frozen yogurt..... Especially when I have a raw deli about a mile from my house.
Is it cheap? No. But it's cheaper than cancer.
I have no problem spending money on clothing, purses, facials and plane tickets so why skimp on what I put into my body?
Raw Pizza
Yummy and surprisingly filling....
I really liked the crust! Nice and spicy!
Which reminds me....I must tackle that dehydrator again! No excuses!!
Veggie Pate
Delicious with a handful of Baby Carrots and Red Bell Pepper Sticks.

Anyway....I'm trying.

Now, Off to the couch to dig into my new book. It's called The Wave by Susan Casey.
FYI-It's really good. So far it's a great story about giant rouge ocean waves and crazy big waves surfers in case you wanted to check it out.....too fun!

Confession

You want to know what has been sucking lately?
My diet....
Yes, It's true.
Don't get me wrong, I've been eating plenty of salads these days but my daily intake of raw vegan foods has taken a dramatic nose dive in the last 2 weeks.
I have not been juicing (?) I have not been making my famous raw smoothies (?) And I've fallen in love with the sugary creamy greatness of Haagen Daze frozen yogurt.

I feel sluggish, irritated and bloated.
Me no like.

However....I've come up with a million excuses. Wanna hear?
1.Surfs up = Need carbs+sugar+wine.
2. I'm preparing my body for the gluttony of a month long vacation to the Southwest and the Dirty South.
3. I'm actually trying to gain a few lbs ( more on that another time.... )
4. I'm too tired after work to cook ( the lamest excuse so far )
5. My man's idea of making dinner for us is frozen veggie pizza ( Hey...at least he's trying! )

Anyway
"Raw Veggie Wraps" from the Honokowai Farmer's Market Deli with Miso Dressing.

These were wonderful.......
That being said, I promise to get off my ass and make myself something fresh, green, and raw. If not, I promise to buy something prepared instead.
Haagen Daze... you'll now be joining Nutella, Blue Cheese Dressing and Tim Tams from the "Cansler-Barberis - Foods Banned from the House" list.
You'll be missed.
Aloha

P.S.
Happy be-lated 33rd birthday to my younger sister Erin.
I ( now ) enjoy the 6 mos where I'm only 1 year older than you.
I remember it wasn't that long ago that I use to think otherwise.....

Surf Days

Another picture perfect day over here on the Valley Isle....
See Haleakala in the back ground? Beautiful.
We headed to Ukumehame to surf today. I've been MRSA free for two days in a row now and took advantage of the fizzling south swell. ( I surfed yesterday as well ).
The waves were inconsistent so I decided not to wait on shore to get any shot of the sets. I also needed to beat the wind...sorry.
Doggies were everywhere today! This little guy ended up surfing with his owner later. Too cute!
Very dry West Maui mountains. We really need some rain this coming winter!
For lunch we headed for Lahaina Cooler's. This seems to be becoming a routine these days.....
Love that place for a post surf lunch on a Saturday.
The Standard...
Cooler's Greek Salad.

Afterwards, Carlos wanted to go to Ono Gelato for an Ahi Slider ( ?? ) Apparently his Bean Soup and Ceasar Salad was not enough....
I decided to be brave and try a small "Stracciatella" Gelato ( Vanilla and Chocolate Flakes ) . It was awesome and I didn't have any stomach issues later. Does this mean my lactose problems are going away??
Did you know that Gelato is only 3-4% butter fat? ( compared to standard American Ice Cream's 10-18% )
Maybe this is why my stomach felt okay?? Love it!
Carlos had the "Sandy Beach" in a waffle cone ( Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Graham Crackers, Sea Salt ) Yummo!!!

Off to watch "Vicky Christina Barcelona" this late afternoon while my live-in Javier Bardem look alike goes and plays Disk Golf again.....( I just don't get the "Disk Golf" obsession the Maui Boys have these days.....Just. Don't. Get. It! ) Blah!
Aloha!

Coping with MRSA ( again )

It's tomato season!
Don't you just love that....

MRSA Update...
It's almost gone.
I've been in quarantine for the last 2 days and I'm going a little stir crazy......
I realized in the last 24 hours that my super cute beaded couch pillows are not that comfortable to lay on.
Oh well..... It's like wearing super high heels I guess. What's more important? Comfort vs.Style
Dumb question.
Actually, I really can't complain too much about the MRSA. Honestly there are few things I'd rather be doing than hanging out in our Hawaiian cottage and flipping through my books.
I think I found my "Dream Lanai" in the Ibiza Style book.

Next!
Dinner tonight was Asian inspired ...
Spicy Pea and Tofu Pot Stickers
Green Papaya Salad
And some Tofu and Veggie Summer Rolls

I'm imagining tomorrow will be another repeat of today....

Have a good night!
Aloha
